The Issue is Complex

Beginning July 1, 2025, Maryland made several fees changes and among them, were two very important changes that may exacerbate the very situation.

MVA made several changes to fees and taxes for Maryland residents effective July 1, 2025, and them was doubling of the title fee from $100 to $200 and another was radically changing the rules of vehicle qualification for historic tags and registration. Before the rule was the vehicle has to 20 years or older and based on the new rule, the vehicle has to be year 1999 or older. These two changes will help drive cost to Marylander’s and push more people to VA tags as the only viable option. Remember that it is all about the money and people will do whatever they believe is in their best interest.
